It’s almost the middle of 2022, and automakers are already working on cars and SUVs that will be released later that year’s holiday season. However, June 2022 will see a slew of new vehicle introductions, most notably from mass-market brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia. We’ve compiled a list of Car launches in June 2022
Volkswagen Virtus – June 9 (price announcement)
The VW Virtus, the sister model to the Skoda Slavia, was unveiled globally in March and will be available in the coming weeks. The interior of the midsize sedan is largely similar to that of the Taigun, with all of the SUV’s bells and whistles. The Virtus will be available in two variant lines: Dynamic Line, which includes all 115hp 1.0 TSI models, and Performance Line, which includes the 150hp 1.5 TSI models.
Kia EV 6 – June 2 (price announcement)
The E-GMP architecture will be used by Kia India’s flagship electric crossover, released in limited numbers. The EV6 for India will most likely have a 77.4kWh battery pack and come in two configurations: a rear-wheel-drive single-motor layout with 229hp and 350Nm, and an all-wheel-drive dual-motor layout with 325hp and 605Nm.
Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Brezza – end-June (price announcement)
The all-new Maruti Suzuki Brezza is expected to be released by the end of June, and it now has a completely new exterior design, as seen in recent spy photos. The interior of the compact SUV is expected to be refreshed, with features similar to those found on the Baleno and the recently launched Ertiga/XL6. The 103hp, 1.5-litre K15C DualJet engine from the Ertiga and XL6 is expected to power the new Brezza, which will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or a brand-new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Citroen C3 Aircross – June (India-spec model unveiling)
After the C5 Aircross SUV, the French automaker will soon launch its second offering in India. The C3 Crossover is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine based on the CMP modular platform that underpins Jeep’s sub-4m SUVs. The C3 will compete against the Tata Punch, Maruti Ignis, and Nissan Magnite when it arrives.
Hyundai Venue facelift – mid-June (price announcement)
The Hyundai Venue facelift is expected to have an all-new front end design and a major interior makeover as part of the major mid-life cycle refresh. The Venue facelift is expected to be powered by the same 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 115hp, 1.2-litre petrol, and 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engines the new Tucson SUV and the Palisade sold overseas.
Lexus LX500d – mid-June (price announcement)
The LX SUV, which shares the same TNGA-F body-on-frame architecture as the revamped Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, will be introduced in India. The new Lexus SUV will be available in LX500d trim, with a 305hp 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 diesel engine to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Mahindra Scorpio-N – June 27 (price announcement)
Mahindra recently released official images of the all-new Scorpio-N, which will be sold alongside the current Scorpio. The SUV is expected to be slightly cheaper than the popular XUV700, with a large vertical touchscreen taking centre stage on the dashboard. The Scorpio-N will most likely be powered by the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and the 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engines found in the Thar and XUV700 and will ride on a ladder-frame chassis.
