Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors have teased facelifted versions of their three-row premium SUVs, the Hyundai Palisade Facelift and Telluride, respectively. Both updated SUVs are expected to receive significant updates and make their global debut on the same day, April 13, 2022, at the Los Angeles Motor Show.
Although the latest teasers only show a portion of both updated full-size SUVs, they are enough to indicate that they will receive significant styling updates. The Palisade and Telluride facelifts will be available in the United States. Both SUVs made their global debut in late 2018 around the same time.
Both Palisade and Telluride will be based on the current design philosophies of their respective brands. ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ for Hyundai and ‘Opposites United’ for Kia. Palisade takes styling cues from Tucson, while Telluride looks to Sportage for inspiration. Both SUVs come in seven- and eight-seat configurations.
2023 Kia Telluride facelift
The exterior of the Telluride is similar to that of its cousin, with a redesigned front face featuring headlights and a new LED signature for DRLs. It has a tiger-nose front grille similar to the Kia Sonet and a muscular front bumper and sculpted bonnet. A large metallic bash plate and flared wheel arches add to the car’s aggressive appearance.
Unlike Hyundai, Kia has shown off the interior of the Telluride, with the most notable feature being a new twin-screen display for the touchscreen infotainment and instrument cluster. It also has three central air-conditioning vents and physical controls in the form of knobs. The flat, multi-layered dashboard enhances the premium appearance with silver inserts.
2023 Hyundai Palisade facelift
Palisade is the first of the big three rows to get an upright and flat nose and a larger front grille with 3D chrome inserts, similar to the Alcazar in India. It gets the same vertically oriented LED headlamps in both bumper corners but with revised L-shaped LED DRLs flanking them. The broad, square face of the side profile mirrors the chunky front grille.
New multi-spoke alloy wheels with a dual-tone finish are also included. Hyundai has remained tight-lipped about the facelifted Palisade’s interiors, but a few changes are expected. New upholstery options and a few extra creature comforts could be among them.
Powertrain Specs
The facelifted SUVs are shown in top-spec trims in both teasers, with the Palisade in its Calligraphy model and the Telluride in a new X-Pro variant that will be more off-road focused. In the powertrain department of either model, no changes are expected. The Palisade and Telluride are powered by a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V-6 petrol engine with 8-speed automatic transmission.
They are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This engine produces 292 horsepower and 355 Nm of peak torque. They will also be offered a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine with 197 horsepower and 440 Nm of peak torque.
